Virginia Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Virginia’s Health Equity Leadership Task Force worked in tandem with Virginia’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) to ensure an equitable outreach and response to the commonwealth’s citizens at the onset of 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic. JMI developed the strategy, messaging and collateral materials used by ODEI to promote and integrate inclusive practices across government and higher-education offices, and non-profit and for-profit business levels. The scope of work included a step-by-step guide for reassessing existing practices, identifying any inherent biases and implementing structural change.

The ONE Virginia Plans served as a framework to enhance and model inclusive and equitable excellence across state government, higher education, and related sectors throughout the Commonwealth.

Health Equity Leadership Task Force

Trying to connect with Virginia residents willing to engage in face-to-face conversations during the COVID-19 pandemic was difficult. JMI documented the task force’s efforts – both for posterity and as tangible proof of what can be achieved by an effective government during a once-in-a-lifetime crisis.
